National Day of Catalonia in Sant Pere de Vilamajor
Sant Pere de Vilamajor celebrates the National Day of Catalonia!
The Diada of September 11, in memory of the end of the War of Succession in 1714, is declared a National Holiday of Catalonia. On the occasion of that day, various institutional events and demonstrations are organized and, in addition, it is a public holiday throughout Catalonia.
At 12 noon, in the hall of the Rectory , the institutional acts of the Diada will be held:
- Welcome and parliaments, floral offering, song of the senyera and song of Els Segadors.
- Then music and a popular aperitif.
The Diada commemorates the events of September 11, 1714, when the Bourbon troops conquered Barcelona and put an end to the War of Succession. This date symbolizes the loss of Catalan freedoms and institutions.
