National Day of Catalonia in Ripoll

Once again this year, Ripoll City Council is organising a programme of events to celebrate Catalonia's National Day.

A very significant festival for the town, known as the Cradle of Catalonia. The institutional event will take place at the monastery of Santa María de Ripoll at 10 am, with the participation of Albert Donaire, an activist for the Catalan language, who will read the commemorative gloss. Afterwards, an offering will be made to the Tomb of Count Guifré el Pilós, and the event will close with the intervention of the mayor Sílvia Orriols and music by Eva Curto on the cello. In the Abat Oliba square, the new dance of the Giants of Ripoll will be presented, and in the Town Hall square there will be a sardana audition. The day will end with a popular rice dish in the church of Sant Pere, which will include activities such as a historical after-dinner conversation and live music.
