MUHBA Exhibition: Valldaura, from a medieval palace to a research center

The exhibition will remain in the Collserola building until February 2025 and will then be installed in Cerdanyola del Vallès and other districts of Barcelona. The exhibition “Valldaura, 1150-2025: A history of monks, kings, nobles, industrialists and researchers”, curated by Vicente Guallart and Robert Álvarez, opens on 30 November at the MUHBA Vil·la Joana.

Explore the history of Valldaura, from its origins as the first Cistercian monastery in Catalonia to becoming a green building research centre managed by the IAAC.

The exhibition covers key stages: the monastery founded in 1150, the royal domain of the 13th and 14th centuries, and its transformation into a farmhouse in the 19th century. It also includes data from archaeological excavations led by the University of Barcelona.

On December 4, a book about this story will be presented, published by Actar, which compiles more than 15 years of research by the commissioners.
