'Setmana Medieval' at Montblanc 2024

Montblanc celebrates a new edition of the 'Setmana Medieval'!

The 'Medieval Setmana' is celebrated on the two weekends surrounding the Sant Jordi Day, on April 23rd. It has an extensive program of events, which is partially renewed each edition and is enriched with new technological and artistic contributions.

The main acts are:

• Representation of the Legend of Sant Jordi. It is the most emblematic act. It tells the legend of Sant Jordi which, according to Joan Amades' Costumari Català, became Montblanc. Two functions are represented. This macro spectacle of light and music is held with the 14th century walls in the background.
• Medieval Market. It is one of the first to be held in Catalonia and brings together more than a hundred stalls, exclusively selling artisan products, distributed through the streets and squares of the medieval old town.
• Night medieval tournament. The king has called a great tournament between the noble houses of the town of Montblanc and the Nasrid house of Granada, which has also been invited. The cunning, the skill on top of the horse and the strength of each house will be measured through harsh tests to prove their honor.
• Delivery of the Rose On April 23, the procession of the four noble houses will dance in honor of the most beautiful act of love of the Costumari Català, the delivery of the rose to the princess by the knight Sant Jordi.

It is a festival declared of Tourist Interest by Spain and by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It has been held since 1987, from then on the Medieval Association was formally established.
