March 21, World Tree Day
Today is the Day of the Tree, a celebration declared to protect forests and wooded areas. The day also wants to be a reminder of the importance of trees for life, since they are a source of purification of the air and provide materials and fruits to humans.
The World Tree Day or World Forest Day was initially a recommendation of the World Forestry Congress that was held in Rome in 1969. This recommendation was accepted by the United Nations Organization for Agriculture and Food (FAO) in 1971.
In many countries Tree Day is used to plant trees and organize activities around nature.
