March 21, World Tree Day
This event is over.
Today is Arbor Day, a celebration declared to protect forests and wooded areas. The day also serves as a reminder of the importance of trees to life, as they purify the air and provide materials and fruits to humans.
World Tree Day, or World Forestry Day, was initially a recommendation of the World Forestry Congress held in Rome in 1969. This recommendation was accepted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1971.
In many countries, Arbor Day is used to plant trees and organize nature-related activities.
