Major Festival in L'Ametlla de Merola
The L'Ametlla de Merola ( Puig-reig ) Festival is back for another year, an emblematic celebration that combines tradition and novelty. With days full of activities for everyone, the festival includes traditional events and new additions, such as the giants, introduced in 1990, and the giant from 2015.
Friday begins with the hanging of the cross on the bell tower, followed by Tastal'am and a popular dinner, where the locals offer their best dishes. Then, the proclamation and music of local groups liven up the night. On Saturday morning, there is the fishing contest, children's activities and the vibrant Zumbholi. The night is rounded off with theatre and dancing in the tent.
On Sunday, the parade, solemn mass and the sardana dance bring the community together. On Monday, the concert-vermouth and the popular dance mark the end of the festival, which closes on Tuesday with the lowering of the cross.
