The Almond Festival of Merola ( Puig-reig ) is back for another year, an emblematic celebration declared a Festive Heritage of Catalonia that combines tradition and new features.

This year is a special one: the Mandonguillada Popular is celebrating its tenth edition! The festivities kick off on Thursday with the parade, dinner, and opening speech, and continue on Friday with the hanging of the cross on the bell tower and Tastal'am, an evening of tastings of dishes and tapas with live music.

On Saturday, the Esplai Cultural Association presents the play " La Tendresa," followed by La Rumba dels Tets in the evening and a concert. Sunday is the big day: a solemn mass in honor of Sant Mateu, a parade with the Cobla Berga Jove, a dance with bells, dwarfs and giants, sardanas, and fireworks. The festivities conclude on Monday with a vermouth concert and more sardanas and dances, and on Tuesday with the lowering of the cross.
