Lluèrnia, Fire and Light Festival in Olot

Lluèrnia, Festival of Fire and Light, has the desire to visualize the relationship of the city of Olot and its surroundings, with the fire of the volcanoes and how this origin has been transforming, not only the orography and the landscape, but the same character and culture of the people of La Garrotxa.

Our particular calendar leaves a void during the month of November that can be filled with the celebration of Sant Martí, Christian sacralization of the god Mars, which is associated with the slaughter of the pig, the bonanza of the summer of his name, in the home, and to the light (the rainbow) and by origin in fire, since it could also be the "de-paganization" of the myth of Prometheus, the hero who takes fire from the gods and gives it to humans.

Lluèrnia is part of the current trend of festive demonstrations around fire and light, facilitated by the evolution of the technology of projections and spectacular lighting, and the reconversion of pyrotechnic shows for reasons of safety legislation in shows.

Lluèrnia is an artistic and pedagogical commitment that reaches the entire citizen group, gaining respectful behavior with culture and public space.

Lluèrnia, Festival of Fire and Light of Olot, is organized by the Lluèrnia Cultural Association, with the support of the Olot City Council and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the collaboration of Culture of the Provincial Council of Girona.
