Living nativity scene of Els Prats de Rei

At Christmas one of the traditions of Alta Anoia returns, the renowned Els Prats de Rei Nativity Scene, which this year celebrates a new edition.

The streets and squares of the town are transformed into a great stage and, aided by the magic of the script and some spectacular sets, it makes us go back in time and transports us to ancient Palestine, where more than 2,000 years ago he produced the facts that marked humanity.

The Living Nativity Scene of Els Prats de Rei is the cultural act that most shows the link and importance that the old town has with the town. Being a theatrical nativity scene, it is made up of different stages that form a circuit that ends up passing through the entire old town.

Of the manger it is worth noting the involvement of practically the entire town. All this staging represents the work of many people, both before, during and after the performances, in addition to a fairly considerable investment.

One of the most important features of the Els Prats de Rei Crib is that the actors speak out loud and that it has its own music (the only crib in Catalonia with an Original Soundtrack). Ms. Valentí Miserachs composed the oratorio “Navidad, El Pesebre Viviente de Els Prats de Rei” for orchestra, choirs and soprano soloist, expressly for this work. It was premiered in Rome (in 1987) and has been performed twice in our regions (in 1988 directed by Ms Valentí Miserachs and in 1996 by Concepció Ramió). The music that accompanies the Manger has been recorded in these two performances.
