July 13, World Rock Day
World Rock Day is celebrated annually on July 13 to commemorate the mega concert "Live Aid" that was held on July 13, 1985 simultaneously in London, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sydney and Moscow. The objective of the festival was to raise funds for Somalia and Ethiopia, countries that were experiencing a serious humanitarian crisis.
The most emblematic rock bands of the moment participated in the concert, including Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath, Queen, Sting, Judas Priest, Duran Duran, U2, Scorpions, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins.
The success of the event was so great that it was decided to declare the date as World Rock Day, in homage to the "Live Aid" concert.
