The Ball de Gitanes ( Gypsy Dance) is the most deeply rooted folk tradition in the villages of Vallès. Its ancestral origins can be traced back to the pagan spring festivals held to ask the gods for the fertility of the land. Its history dates back to at least 1767; its music is unique, composed mainly by Josep Ferrer i Torres between the 1910s and 1920s; and its vitality and strength have grown each year since its revival in 1981.
