Gypsy Dance in Sant Celoni
Sant Celoni celebrates the arrival of spring with the Gypsy Dance!
The Ball de Gitanes is the popular, folkloric event, traditionally most deeply rooted in the towns of Vallès. Its ancestral origin should be sought in the pagan spring festivals that were celebrated to ask the gods for the fertility of the land.
It dates back to at least 1767; His music is his own, composed mostly by Josep Ferrer i Torres between the 1910s and 20s of the 20th century; It has a vitality and strength that grows every year since its recovery in 1981.
