The Leather Art Museum opened in Vic in 1996. The city, with a long tradition in the leather trade, houses the collection assembled by the prestigious Vic tanner Andreu Colomer Munmany, a passionate lover of both art and his work, which led him to seek out and collect artistic pieces made of leather.

The museum, dedicated to decorative and applied arts using this material, displays a collection of objects made entirely or partially from leather. The pieces are very diverse: chests, screens, altar frontals, table stands, chairs, saddles, masks, shadow puppets, among others.

Rich in artistic merit, the works come from different places and periods, reflecting a wide variety of techniques related to leatherwork. Guadamasil (gilded and polychrome leather) stands out, used primarily for wall coverings, altar frontals, and screens. The use of cordovan leather (high-quality goatskin) in caskets and boxes is also noteworthy.

The permanent collection offers a journey through the history of European decorative and sumptuary arts, with some forays into other cultures, such as Chinese or various African traditions, always through the artistic work of leather.

The Andreu Colomer Munmany collection in Vic has been officially recognized as a museum by the Register of Museums of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
