Festivities of San Antonio Abad in Olesa de Montserrat

Olesa de Montserrat, at the foot of the Montserrat mountain, is a municipality rich in culture and tradition!

At the end of January and beginning of February, Olesa de Montserrat comes alive with the Sant Antoni Abat Festival, offering a program of events that blends tradition, popular culture, and festive street activities. The main events take place on January 30th and 31st and February 1st, transforming the town into a vibrant meeting place open to all.

The festivities kick off on Friday, January 30th, with the opening of the exhibition "Les fonts d'Olesa de Montserrat" at the Cal Puigjaner winery, a display that highlights local heritage and history. Following this, the official presentation of the festival takes place, along with the symbolic transfer of the flags to the new standard-bearers, marking the beginning of the main days of celebration.

Saturday, January 31st, is a day packed with activity. Throughout the day, Plaça Catalunya hosts the Medieval Market and the Wine and Vermouth Fair, featuring stalls, artisan products, and culinary offerings. At midday, the Esbart Olesà performs traditional dances, reinforcing the connection to local culture. In the evening, the Correfoc takes center stage, winding its way through the city center, followed by the Santantonada and the lighting of the bonfires. The day concludes with live music and a festive atmosphere in the Municipal Park.

Sunday, February 1st, maintains its festive spirit with the Medieval Market and the Wine and Vermouth Fair throughout the day. In the morning , the traditional decoration of horses and carriages and the muleteer's breakfast take place, before the departure of the Tres Tombs (Three Turns), with the corresponding blessing of the animals. The procession through the town's streets is accompanied by music and entertainment, culminating with the Sant Antoni vermouth.
