The Tura Festival in the city of Olot is considered one of the most important festivals in the Girona region and by extension throughout Catalonia.

There are three characteristics that define them: they are free, popular and street parties.

They are the Major Festivals of Olot. Its name comes from the patron saint of the city, the Virgen del Tura, and it is celebrated around September 8.

The festivities in honor of the Virgen del Tura, patron saint of the city, are already documented in the fourteenth century, although there is news of festive events that were organized on the occasion of this day from 1636, the year in which the celebration of the correbou, dance in the square and seguidillas.

In 1997, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia declared them Festivals of National Interest and, secondly, that this festival was invited to the first days of analysis of popular festivals, together with such important celebrations as the San Fermin de Pamplona, The Fallas of Valencia or the Great Week of San Sebastián, days that took place during the year 98 in Barcelona.
