Festival of the Sallent Enramadas
The Enramadas of Sallent, a festival with a very deep-rooted tradition in the municipality, consists of decorating the streets of the town during the Corpus Christi festival.
The Enramades festival in Sallent was awarded the National Culture Prize for best popular artistic initiative in 1992. It has also been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest and a Traditional Festival of National Interest.
This is one of the most emblematic celebrations in Sallent's cultural heritage. The Enramades take place for Corpus Christi and fill the streets with decorations, activities, and festivities. It is a very old tradition, with origins dating back some 600 years, when the streets were adorned to welcome the Corpus Christi procession. Documentation has been found as early as the 13th century.
The town council organizes the festival events, while the decoration of the streets is the responsibility of the Friends of the Enramades Association. The residents of the participating streets keep this tradition alive and transform their neighborhoods into a spectacle of light, color, and creativity, using traditional elements such as boxwood, flowers, and crepe paper.
Each street is based on a central theme that inspires all its decorations. Preparations begin months in advance and culminate on Wednesday night, Corpus Christi Thursday, when the streets come to life and become unique scenes.
During the festival, visitors can stroll through the decorated streets and enjoy a wide range of activities: music, dancing, parades, sardanas, giants and dwarfs, and many other fun activities that invite you to experience the festive atmosphere of Sallent firsthand.
