Festival of Tonis in Tona

In homage to the roots of the peasantry, every year the Tona parish priest blesses the animals related to farm work that go through the town in a colorful parade.

There are many Catalan towns that for Sant Antoni Abat, patron saint of muleteers and round-footed animals, celebrate festivals related to farm tasks and pack animals. Named Fiestas de Sant Antoni, or in some places known as the Tres Tombs or Tonis.

In the past, they circled three times around a space where a large bonfire made with green branches was made. Once Christianity has a greater presence, the changes take place around the church of Sant Antoni or, failing that, around the image of the Saint, from where the animals are blessed.
