Festival of Sant Quirze and Santa Julita in Calella

As every year, at the gates of summer, and on the occasion of the Festival of Sant Quirze and Santa Julita, Calella celebrates its Festival, with lots of activities for all ages.

Every city has its patrons. Sant Quirze and Santa Julita are those of Calella. They are also venerated in Italy, in Catalonia and the peninsula, many towns have temples dedicated to their cult. Santa Julita was the mother of Sant Quirze and both died as martyrs for keeping their faith. They are patrons of the poor, of children and of sawmills.

With summer near, the Mediterranean spirit invades every corner of the city and the soul of the Calellenses. The streets and squares are filled with music, dances and giants to celebrate one of the most popular and participatory festivals in the town... The Sant Quirze and Santa Julita Festival!

The most important day is the day of Santa Julita, but days before the city is filled with concerts and shows with the Festival Impuls de Calella!

The giants of the city parade elegantly and dance to the music that accompanies them, with the sound of jackdaws and drums. Children and adults come out to proudly honor the patrons of the town and to enjoy the traditions in the street. And with the Circus Festival you can enjoy the excitement of jumping, improvising and laughing, and sure... fun is guaranteed!
