Vilafranca del Penedès Rooster Fair 2024

As tradition dictates, around Sant Tomàs, Vilafranca del Penedès celebrates the centenary Rooster Fair.

The Rooster Fair is a traditional poultry market that has been held in Vilafranca de Penedès since the Middle Ages. At this fair you can buy and taste the renowned "Penedès Rooster", a native variety of poultry highly appreciated for its attractiveness and its meat, and the real star of the fair.

The fair offers a poultry market to prepare Christmas meals, a cooking show with traditional and innovative recipes made with Penedès Rooster, and a wide selection of wines from the DO Penedès. In addition, visitors can enjoy showcookings, wine tastings and this year's new feature: "El Galliner", an event that combines humor, gastronomy and music, with the comic Guillem Estadella and local DJs.

One of the highlights will be the opening speech by chef and content creator Jacint Carafí, known as Cintet, who will share ideas for cooking Gall del Penedès and will defend local products.

The fair also includes family activities, such as the Festive and Feather Bestiary Exhibition, with parades, workshops and activities. Children can participate in the ritual of giving the pacifier to the Ballarica Hen.

With more than 40,000 visitors each year, the Feria del Gallo is a meeting point to experience the tradition, gastronomy and festive atmosphere of the Capital of Wine and Penedès.
