European Mobility Week in Catalonia

European Mobility Week is an annual campaign promoted by the European Commission, held from September 16 to 22. In Catalonia, this initiative is widely followed and involves numerous municipalities, institutions, and public and private entities. Its main objective is to promote more sustainable and healthy mobility habits, such as public transport, cycling, and walking, and to reduce the use of private vehicles, especially in urban areas.

Main objectives of Mobility Week in Catalonia

• Pollution reduction: Promote mobility that reduces emissions of CO2 and other polluting gases.
• Promotion of sustainable means of transport: Encourage the use of electric vehicles, bicycles and public transport, offering more sustainable and ecological alternatives.
• Improving public health: Encouraging citizens to be more active, promoting physical exercise and reducing the risks associated with air pollution.
• Reclaiming public space: Highlighting the need to design cities that are more pedestrian and cyclist friendly, with safer and more accessible spaces.
