Corpus Christi of Barcelona 2024

From 30/05/2024 to 02/06/2024
Barcelona

The Corpus Christi festivity, which for centuries has been considered the authentic festival of the city, is a tradition that has more than six hundred years of history in Barcelona.

Today the most representative elements of the city's festive imagery parade, represented by the entourage. In addition, some time ago it became a model for many other towns in the country.

The main act whose celebration is the procession, which currently contains two totally different parts: the festive one, in which the Popular Entourage of Barcelona, enlarged as indicated by the protocol, makes a parade through squares and streets of the city center with elements of festive imagery, music and dances.

The other is the Corpus Christi de la Seu procession, which is strictly religious in nature. There are more manifestations of popular culture, such as "The egg as it dances" or the sardanas, which are present in the festive program.

Since Corpus Christi ceased to be a labor holiday in Barcelona, the celebration moves the procession from Thursday to the following Sunday.
