Corpus in Solsona

Solsona opens the summer festival calendar with the celebration of one of the oldest Corpus in the country.

It comes to be a small Festival, since some of the same more traditional acts of the festival are celebrated, those carried out by the giant imagery. The whole of the celebration takes place in the egg yolk of the old town, of medieval origin.

Although it is a religious celebration, from the beginning it had a festive and popular character.

The Solsona Corpus stands out for the fire wheel, which takes place the night before; the parade with the trabucaires; the procession led by the Bishop of Solsona; the carpet of flowers and colored sawdust in the Plaza de Palau; and the exhibition of the traditional ballets of giant imagery, accompanied by the Ciudad de Solsona Youth Cobla, and the storm.

Since 1431 there is evidence of the performance of ballets in the Plaza de la Catedral during the Corpus Christi festival. Currently, traditional dances are performed in the Plaza Mayor at noon on Sunday. They become the appointment that generates the most expectation.
