Coastal Festival in the Horta de Sant Joan
The Costa festival in Horta de Sant Joan is a traditional celebration that takes place on the Saturday following the day of La Merced (September 24), or on the same day if it falls on a Saturday.
This festival, which owes its name to the division of the town into two parts (one part that organizes the celebration and the other that is invited), transforms the streets of the town into a visual spectacle with decorated streets and lit bonfires.
Around these bonfires, sardines, meat and sausages are roasted for everyone, creating an atmosphere of conviviality and brotherhood. In addition, the party is enlivened by the traditional Horta jota dance and lots of fun. This combination of elements makes this festival a highly anticipated event enjoyed by everyone.
