In Sant Salvador de Guardiola, the tradition of Caramelles has been deeply rooted for many years. There are several documentary records of caramelles groups from the beginning of the 20th century, when two groups of young people competed in an intense rivalry.

During the 1940s, rattlesnake dancing was revived, a practice that was almost forgotten, and at that time the musical accompaniment was done with an accordion. Also highlighted is the lost tradition of announcing the arrival of the caramellaires to the farmhouses and streets, using a device similar to a blunderbuss loaded with gunpowder that exploded.

After a few years of interruption, the celebration of the Caramelles in the village resumed in 1978. This restoration included, once again, the practice of rattle dancing, which had been absent for a long time. Today, the two active gangs combine cane dancing with traditional dances and "corrandes", each with its distinctive musical style.

Currently, the two groups that come out to sing and dance are: the Caramelles de Salelles with the Colla del Vino Bo and the Caramelles de Guardiola with the Colla dels Quintos. Each group tours the different neighborhoods, houses and places of the municipality during Saturday and Sunday, culminating the celebration together on Glory Sunday, after mass, to sing and dance together and then share a community meal.
