Banya Festival in Castellvell del Camp

The Festival of "La Banya" in Castellvell del Camp is celebrated on April Fool's Day (December 28), precisely born as a result of the independence of Reus.

On this day, in addition to all kinds of jokes, it is typical to make everyone who wants to access Castellvell pay a "Banya".

The Banya Festival is a very representative example of the tradition of making people pay to go through the streets or to leave the town. In Castellvell del Camp, the popular tax is called making the Banya pay and is especially dedicated to the Reus citizens who went up to the winter festival of this town.

The party is organized by the Culture Council and the City Council. The group of young people pays their will to enter or leave the town and with the money they pay for the Oil Festival breakfast. This traditional practice also served as a reason for the creation of the characters represented by the giants of the population.
