Apropa't, Poble Espanyol Crafts Festival

From 18/11/2023 to 19/11/2023
Barcelona (Poble Espanyol)

El Poble Espanyol ( Barcelona ) presents a great festival dedicated to crafts!

On November 18 and 19, Poble Espanyol will become the meeting point and celebration of crafts, from the traditional to the most contemporary. Apropa't - Poble Espanyol Crafts Festival invites families, adults and professionals in the sector to discover, in a fun and festive way, the diversity of the craft trade.

More than 15 workshops of different disciplines for families and adults, demonstrations, artistic installations, collective creations, projections, shows and live music make up the program of this first edition of the festival.

The programming will include demonstrations, audiovisual projections, artistic installations, shows, music and a long list of workshops designed for children and adults.

Come closer, it has the support of the Generalitat Government, through the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion (CCAM), and with the collaboration of the Federation of Associations of Craftsmen of Catalonia (FAAOC).

Three axes and a long list of activities

For two days, several spaces in Poble Espanyol will host activities proposed by the artisans themselves who usually work in the area, but also groups and guilds from all over Catalonia who will show their work live and invite visitors to experience the craftsmanship from different points of view.

The festival is divided into 3 main thematic axes:

  • Entre manos is an invitation to learn the secrets of craftsmanship through collective creations, visits to workshops and live displays of artisan crafts. The visitor will be able to be part of the creative process of the work, contributing their hands to create a collective piece, see creations live, meet artisans and craftswomen up close, thus preserving the intangible cultural heritage of local communities.
  • Temporary pleasure is an approach to ephemeral art, beauty and the pleasure of contemplation through artistic installations, exhibitions and audiovisual projections in the streets, shop windows and other spaces of Poble Espanyol. In this framework, people who visit the festival will be able to discover different pieces that have been part of the International Audiovisual Crafts Exhibition, an initiative promoted by the CCAM and which will reach its 5th edition this year. Likewise, the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion will also present a selection of works from the exhibition Visions of Catalonia: Designing Crafts from the 2nd Biennial of Contemporary Catalan Crafts, and a sample of pieces created by artisans who have been awarded the National Crafts Award for Young Talent by the Generalitat of Catalonia.
  • Create x Create offers learning experiences focused on artisanal practice. Experienced artisans in different disciplines will share their creative processes, techniques, materials and knowledge with the audience.

To round out the experience, the Festival will have 3 special shows: workshop-performances for building recycled instruments with Pep Gol, a glass blowing demonstration with Pròsper Riba, from the Arts del Vidre, and two Spanish guitar concerts with Santiago de Cecilia, luthier and musician.
