Aplec Sardanista in Montblanc
In the past, Sardanism in Montblanc was of great importance. In 1903 it began with the sound of a piano, but shortly after it was replaced by the copla, in 1907. Under Franco, the sardana remained in the form of a "regional dance". Years later, around the 1950s, the Catalan nationalist effort of the Casal Montblanquí brought together traditional cultural samples. It was not until 1963 when the Sardanista Group was founded as a section of the Museum-Archive.
Although for many years it was celebrated in the hermitage of San José, it currently takes place in the Plaza Mayor of Montblanc, on the first Sunday in July.
