Vilaller

The Vilaller All Saints' Fair is an event with more than a thousand years of history, being the oldest fair in the region and of great importance in the Pyrenean areas.

Over time, it has become an economic reference point. It is celebrated just before the arrival of the coldest months and the snowfalls that isolated the houses and farmhouses further away from the population centers. At that time, farmers and ranchers took advantage of the opportunity to stock up on essential products to survive during the winter months, when conditions were harsher.

At this fair , agreements were made to hire young men, and purchases and sales of animals took place. In addition, work contracts were renewed for many. It was also the opportunity to buy piglets with the intention of fattening them up for slaughter during the winter.

The artisans also profited, since by selling calves, foals, among other animals, they obtained income, which allowed ranchers, shepherds, farmers and other inhabitants to pay for the services of the artisans.
