Afternoon with "Els Saletes" at the Ramon Vinyes i Cluet Library in Berga

"Els Saletes": music, tradition and liquors from Berga!

"Els Saletes" were four brothers from Berga, musicians and liqueur makers, who left an indelible mark on the culture of Berguedà. They played for more than 60 years, keeping traditional music alive and, especially, the songs of La Patum. One of them, Jaume Sala i Casals, was a musician, composer and director of the cobla-orchestra and the Orfeó Berguedà. Author of sardanas such as " Cap a Queralt Anem" and emblematic songs of La Patum such as " El Gegant Vell", his work still endures.

The Sala brothers started with La Unión Bergadana, then evolved into Nova Harmonia and finally created La Principal del Berguedà, which later became Cobla Pirineu de Berga. They also ran the Casa Sala distillery, located in Ronda Moreta, where they produced famous liqueurs such as Queraltina, Anís Pirineu and Coñac Sala, which were awarded gold medals in Milan (1919).

To remember his legacy, on April 25, 2025 at 6 p.m., the afternoon will be celebrated with "Els Saletes" in the Assembly Room of the Ramon Vinyes i Cluet Library in Berga organized by Sofia Muñoz i Sala, with presentations by experts such as Albert Rumbo, Quirze Grifell, Sergi Cuenca, Ramon Miquel Safont and Xavier Bassa. An act to claim its influence on the musical and cultural history of Berguedà.
