April 29, International Dance Day
The International Dance Day was established by UNESCO in 1982, following an initiative of the International Dance Committee, belonging to the International Theater Institute.
To celebrate dance, April 29 was chosen, as it was the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, an innovator and student of this art, teacher and creator of modern ballet.
On this day, dance companies and schools, organizations and individuals carry out activities aimed at an audience outside their usual scope.
It is a holiday with shows especially dedicated to dance through: open classes, open-air rehearsals, conferences, exhibitions, publications in newspapers and magazines, popular dances, radio and TV programs, street shows, among others.
So today... Enjoy the dance!
