The Cistercian route: The Monastery of Poblet with calçotada
Discover the Poblet Monastery and traditional calçotada!
Departure from Barcelona towards Tarragona. Along the way, we will enjoy a stop for breakfast, with a ham sandwich accompanied by wine, water, soda, coffee or tea.
We will continue towards the majestic Poblet Monastery (entrance included), a jewel of Cistercian heritage that has stood imposingly since the 12th century. This mystical place was founded in 1150 thanks to Ramon Berenguer IV, who gave these lands for the construction of a space dedicated to work, faith and contemplation. In 1151 the first monks arrived to give life to this abbey.
Today, almost nine centuries later, Poblet is still inhabited, enveloping every visitor in its atmosphere of peace and spirituality. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1991, this monastery is a living testimony of our history.
After delving into the magic of Poblet, we will move to a restaurant, where a special calçotada meal awaits us, a traditional gastronomic experience that celebrates the authentic flavours of the region.
After a pleasant after-dinner conversation, we will return to Barcelona with unforgettable memories of a day full of history, culture and delicacies.
