Guided visit to the Sanctuary of Pinós and Ardèvol Tower, Solsonès

The municipality of Pinós, located in the geographical centre of Catalonia, is the epicentre of what is known as the "territory of a thousand farmhouses". This visit allows you to discover the history of the Sanctuary and the Hostel of Pinós as well as the Tower of Ardèvol.

Sanctuary of Pinós

The sanctuary has its origins in the construction of a chapel built by the Hospitallers. Popular devotion became very important from the year 1507, when Bernat Casas, from Matamargó, declared that, upon arriving at the chapel on the way to Biosca, the Virgin Mary had appeared to him.

In the same space, we find the Hostal de Pinós, which opened its doors in 1524 and which this 2024 celebrates its 500th anniversary.

Tower of Ardèvol

The Ardèvol Tower is a monument declared BCIN located in the center of Ardèvol, in the municipality of Pinós. Date of the s. X and was part of the network of defense towers in the area along with Vallferosa, Lloberola, Peracamps...

It is notable for the fact that the original rectangular tower was later covered with a circular one, which collapsed in the 1930s, leaving the first one exposed and creating its current unique shape.
