Exile Memorial Museum - Seventh edition of the Routes of Exile
A series of trips to different places linked to the 1939 exile, designed for individual users or small groups: friends, family, couples...
Please note:
- Schedule: Half day (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
- Prior registration required (Entrapolis MUME Platform).
- Activity subject to a minimum number of registrants. In case of cancellation, the amount paid will be refunded by the same means.
- Transport: Travel is done in the participant's own vehicle.
- Lunch: Not included.
Prices:
- Adults: €12.
- Youth (12-17 years): €8.
- Children (up to 11 years): Free.

Exile Memorial Museum and the Canta Mine
We will start the day with a visit to the Exile Memorial Museum and then head to Vajol. We will walk through the woods to discover the Canta Mine, the place where the funds and currency of the Caja de Reparaciones were hidden, as well as a shipment of works from the Prado Museum during the war.

A poet in exile: Colliure - Antonio Machado and Argelers
We will visit the beach at Argelès, where we will talk about the conditions of the camp and the consequences of the internment. We will then travel to Colliure to follow the last steps of the poet Antonio Machado and visit his grave, today an emblematic space for memory and remembrance.
Meeting point: Hotel Lido de Argelès.

The double border: Portbou and Walter Benjamin
At the outbreak of World War II, Portbou became one of the main entry routes for Jewish citizens and anti-fascist resistance fighters fleeing the horror of the Nazis. We will visit the cemetery and the Dani Karavan Passages monument, dedicated to the memory of the German philosopher of Jewish descent Walter Benjamin.
Meeting point: In front of the tourist office, Portbou.

Culture in exile: the Catalan Cultural Exile Interpretation Centre, Agullana memorial spaces and the Can Palau bunker
We will start the day with a visit to the Catalan Cultural Exile Interpretation Centre in Agullana, where we will discover the traces of Catalan culture in exile. We will then visit memorial sites linked to the Retreat and end at the Can Palau bunker, built during Franco's regime as a defensive element.
Meeting point: Plaza Mayor, Agullana.
Saturday, July 5th
Paths of exile: monuments of Vajol, Mina Canta and Coll de Manrella
We will visit the most emblematic monuments of La Vajol. We will follow the route on foot to the Mina Canta, where works of art from the Prado Museum and the financial funds of the Caixa Reparacions were hidden. Then we will travel by vehicle to Coll de Manrella, where we will find the monument dedicated to President Companys.
Meeting point: Vajol parking lot.
Saturday, September 6th
Argelès Field Memorial and Elna Maternity Hospital
We will visit the beach of Argelès, where we will talk about the daily life of the inmates of the concentration camp. Next, we will visit the Memorial Centre of the Camp d'Argelers and the Maternity Hospital of Elna, a symbol of peace and solidarity in the midst of exile.

Saturday, October 11
Fleeing on foot: climbing Coll de Lli
After a visit to the Exile Memorial Museum, we will travel to Vajol to set out on foot on one of the most emblematic routes of exile: the Coll de Lli. We will follow in the footsteps of the Republican authorities in their escape on February 5, 1939, such as Lluís Companys, José Antonio Aguirre and Manuel Azaña.

Saturday, November 1st
Maquis Route (1): Sant Iscle de Colltort (Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Garrotxa)
After the Second World War, many Republican exiles who had participated in the French resistance against Nazism began the fight against Franco. This 3-hour circular walking route takes in the Garrochino landscape and brings to life the border crossings of the anti-Franco guerrillas.
Meeting place: Neighborhood of Sant Iscle de Colltort (Sant Feliu de Pallerols, Garrotxa).
