Museu Europeu d'Art Modern - MEAM Barcelona
The museum
The MEAM is a living art museum in permanent movement: Exhibitions, Concerts, Painting and Sculpture Courses, Calls, Guided Tours...
Faithful to its principles, it includes works of painting, drawing and sculpture made in all types of materials and techniques: oils, watercolors, pastel, graphite, charcoal, pen, etc., on canvas, table and any support. Works of marble, bronze, paper and cardboard, wood, resins, terracotta, etc.
These are works by artists from countries on the five continents, in a fund that is fed with each call for MEAM competitions. Without a doubt, one of the most prestigious collections of figurative art currently in the world, both for the quality of the work presented and for the diversity of its authors. All of the works presented are by living artists, who are currently doing their work, thus forming the most genuine artistic production of our times.
The result of the calls for international competitions of the Foundation of Arts and Artists, and also the result of the museum's permanent relationship with artists from all over the world, it is its own collection of works by living artists that constitutes the main wealth of the MEAM. Because the museum not only constantly forms and expands this collection, but the most valuable thing is the personal relationship it maintains with all the authors that make up it, to ensure that the MEAM is effectively the home of all the artists and that all of them feel represented here.
A large sample of this collection is presented at the MEAM alternating with temporary exhibitions. Artists and visitors from all over the world come to admire and discuss the works of the most appreciated and discussed brands in the contemporary artistic sphere.
Currently, we are in a new stage, where the MEAM seeks even more strongly that all aspects and manifestations of the arts are included in the exhibitions, giving a rich, plural, real and contemporary sample of the figurative sphere. Where it aims to be a meeting area, a celebration of talent, a forum for the community in the heart of Barcelona.
Don't miss the opportunity to discover and be part of MEAM, help us put Contemporary Figurative Art in the place it deserves.
