Participatory Experience "Science to open the melon", CosmoCaixa
The CosmoCaixa Science Museum offers this new participatory experience for adult audiences in which attendees will be able to explore certain scientific questions with a critical eye, accompanied by specialists in the field and educators who will provide knowledge, dynamism and fun, but without abandoning scientific rigor.
The sessions have been designed around a programme that includes a wide variety of activities, from experimental workshops to scientific and manipulative demonstrations in unique spaces at the Museum. Participants will have the opportunity to carry out laboratory experiments that will allow them to put into practice concepts on the topic of the day and observe the results first-hand, which will enrich their understanding of scientific phenomena.
In addition to the practical activities, there will be debates in which participants will “open melons” to reflect on the topics presented, to foster an atmosphere of dialogue and critical thinking. These discussions will be moderated by experts in different scientific fields who will guide the conversations and offer valuable perspectives that will enrich the experience. In many of these sessions, it will be necessary to discover what the “rotten melon” is, that is, what lie, fake or erroneous legend is circulating about the topic of the day.
The next sessions will be on Thursday, March 27, where we will open the can of worms on nutrition with "You are what you eat, but... do you know what you eat?" This is the time when science tears apart (literally and figuratively) the "miraculous" properties that commercial foods promise us.
And on Thursday, April 24, we invite you to open the melon of truly cosmic dimensions with the session "Is there life out there?" We will explore, reflect and debate about our place in the universe!
