Extraterrestrials. Is there life outside Earth?, CosmoCaixa Science Museum
What if we weren't the only living beings in the universe? The search for life in the cosmos, its history and how it has been represented in the arts are the main themes of this exhibition.
For millennia we have wondered whether there is life on other planets. For the first time, scientific and technological advances are providing some answers to this mystery.
This exhibition explores the fascination that the idea of the existence of extraterrestrial life causes us, how we have imagined worlds beyond our own and projects some possible futures through science and technology. The tour includes interactive elements, models, real pieces and audiovisual material.
The exhibition begins by placing us in the cosmos, because understanding the place we occupy is what leads us to wonder if extraterrestrial life exists; it draws out the philosophical dilemma that this would pose for us; it raises the question of how the human imagination has reflected worlds beyond our own in art, film and literature, and, through scientific evidence, it projects some possible futures if inhabited planets were discovered. A journey that will make us excited to think that there are other beings in the universe.
In addition, as usual, the exhibition can be complemented with guided tours, family tours for children aged 4 and over and 8 years and over, which will allow an approach to the content of the exhibition with the help of an educator.
