Visit the Gerri del Baix Pallars Museum
From the year 1900, when the salt mines passed into the hands of the Gerri saltworks, a Community of salt manufacturers was established to carry out a good salt activity and a good service for the sale of the product.
This community of manufacturers managed the salt warehouse, took charge of the maintenance of the salt water spring and the main stream.
Currently, there is the Gerri Museum dedicated to the world of Salt. They wanted it to be a place that would help to understand some facts, value some jobs, help to perpetuate the existence of important knowledge for our survival, seek complicity in the proper use of the land and recognize the role of a people when it comes to understand a country
During the visit to the museum, you visit the ground floor, where you take a walk through the rooms of the old warehouse, still with remains of salt on the walls, to evoke what was done there, complete the explanation of how salt was made, how it got here, and how and where it left after.
It also serves to understand the importance for the town and the region and to recognize the protagonists of its history.
All this with the works, the tools and the precious product as witnesses.
It is a very emotional and evocative part, which helps from the sentimental and scenic power that the warehouse itself has.
