Cremallera de Núria Queralbs

Inaugurated in 1931, the Rack Train has been reaching the Vall de Núria station for 91 years. With a distance of 12.4 km and a drop of 1,000 meters, it is characterized for being the highest rack railway in southern Europe.

The Núria Rack Railway is the valley's transportation par excellence, since it is the only means of accessing the Ripollès mountain station. Within the municipality of Queralbs, during its 40-minute journey it stops at 4 stations:

Ribes-Enllaç, the first station, receives this name because its objective, still in force, was to connect the Barcelona-Puigcerdà line with the rack railway; the second stop, Ribes-Vila, is located within the urban area of Ribes de Freser; Queralbs station, just after the start of the rack railway section, is the last point that can be reached by road. Lastly, the Núria station, at an altitude of 1,964 metres, represents the end of a spectacular journey and the beginning of a great experience in contact with Vall de Núria.

The Núria Rack Railway circulates daily without interruption during the 365 days of the year. The panoramic rack railway trip is a unique experience in which passengers enjoy the spectacular beauty of the landscape.

The rack railway allows the Núria Valley to be a space without cars, which guarantees that the gateway to the Natural Park of Cabeceras del Ter and Freser becomes a natural space without pollution where the fauna and flora of the valley.
