Divertimento, music narrated at CaixaForum
Pedro Pardo and Albert Galceran propose a journey through the history of music that will thrill you as you discover the creative impulse of geniuses such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Wagner, among others. More than a conference, more than a concert, more than a screening.
In short, an informative, rigorous and fun experience, suitable for all music lovers, both those who have been there for a lifetime and those who want to discover the fascinating world of classical music.
16.02 - Mozart and the Revolution. Giovanni, Figaro and Constanze
It was not only Beethoven who was inspired by the idea of revolution. Years earlier, Mozart also wanted to free himself from the yoke of the old regimes. Can revolution be achieved by creating operas? Can you make fun of the person who pays your salary without them realising? If you are Mozart, yes.
02.03 - The War of the Romantics. Beethoven, the beginning and end of an era
Beethoven marked a turning point in the history of music. Many considered that beyond his nine symphonies nothing more could be composed, but others saw that this was the starting point for a new musical world. Beethoven broke the mold of classical music and was a great influence on other composers such as Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Berlioz and Liszt.
23.03 – A total work of art. Opera and cinema united by the leitmotiv
According to Richard Wagner, opera is a “total work of art”. Is opera the ancestor of cinema? For John Williams, it certainly is. Through the use of leitmotivs, in this session we will approach the close relationship between operatic creation and soundtracks.
06.04 - The "isms": impressionism, expressionism and minimalism. From Debussy to Nyman
The history of music is full of pendulum movements that arise as a reaction to established aesthetics. We discover new ways of making music with the new scales of Debussy, the new harmonies of Schoenberg and the simplicity of Nyman. We would be able to compose a work with just three notes.
Cycle led by Pedro Pardo, composer, director and pianist, and Albert Galceran, journalist and music promoter.
