Hotel Blaumar in Salou launches innovative 3D guided tours

The Blaumar Hotel, a benchmark in sustainability on the Costa Dorada for two decades, has been offering a guided tour in 3D virtual reality since this fall to publicize the measures that the establishment takes daily to control and minimize environmental impact. This innovative activity is aimed at its clients, travel agencies and tour operators.

Through 3D virtual reality glasses and a 7-minute immersive video, available in four languages, clients and agents can explore the internal and external facilities of the Blaumar Hotel with a 360-degree panoramic view. In this way, you can walk – always virtually – through various key areas of the hotel, such as the laundry, kitchen, commissary, the new Xaloc restaurant, the pool, the reception and a hotel room.

During the tour, information is shared about how the facilities operate, such as the use of sea salt in the pool instead of chlorine or the recycling of cooking oil to produce the soaps found in the rooms. In addition, practical advice is also proposed so that guests can adopt a more sustainable lifestyle during their stay in the hotel and outside of it. This action helps to disseminate the environmental measures of the Hotel Blaumar and, in addition, makes it possible to raise awareness among guests in a fun way.

These guided tours of the Blaumar Hotel, the only hotel in the group where they are offered, are free and during the first days of implementation, they have generated a very positive response among clients. The virtual reality glasses are available through a guided activity once a week for two hours, although it is planned that, in the short term, the glasses can be used freely.

This is a novel and even transgressive action, which demonstrates a firm's commitment to sustainability that the establishment started 20 years ago, before it was a trend. In fact, the Blaumar Hotel has maintained three quality and sustainability certifications for two decades: the Q for Spanish Tourist Quality, ISO 14001 and the European EMAS certificate, with the establishment being a pioneer in Spain in obtaining it.

According to Núria Varela, director of Quality and Environment at Grupo Blaumar: "At the Blaumar Hotel, we are committed to environmental sustainability and we want our clients to learn about our initiatives in a unique and entertaining way. Through these virtual reality visits, We hope to inspire positive and lasting change towards a greener and more responsible future."

Concrete actions that make Hotel Blaumar a leader in sustainability:

The Blaumar Hotel implements a series of eco-friendly practices in its daily life, in line with its environmental commitment. For example, centralized air conditioning control that regulates temperatures according to the orientation of the areas and closes unused areas; to the installation of new hot water tanks that better adjust to the hotel's occupancy, avoiding heating more water than necessary.

In addition, with the implementation of eco-friendly cleaning in 2023, the accommodation manages to reduce water use by 60% and the use of chemical products by 80%. This environmentally friendly cleaning consists of a daily review of the room with a dry mop and collecting waste, thus avoiding the use of water; and, every three days, guest facilities are cleaned in a traditional way.

In the rooms, these practices are also promoted with flow reducers in taps and showers; with automatic lights on the terrace that turn off at night or with the automatic disconnection of the air conditioning when opening the terrace, avoiding waste of electricity.
